While listening to a speech by Steve Harvey, the concept of legacy was explained in a way that really hit home.
The questions was asked: Do you know your Great Grand Father’s name?
The reason you don’t is, in part, because your Great Grand Father didn’t live his life in such a way – as to leave a lasting legacy. Legacy does not have to be in the form of money or property… and I think is interchangeable with leaving an inheritance.
If your great grand father left you an inheritance that altered the course of your life… you certainly would remember his name.
A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous. ~ Proverbs 13:22
In-order to leave an inheritance to your children’s children… you will live your life, in such a way, that you have an abundance – enough to pass down in a multi-generational manner.
Don’t get hung up on the meaning of “inheritance”. It may mean money and/or it might mean wisdom/knowledge.
Either way, you can’t be average…
Now, ask yourself… will your great grand children know your name?
